Tranmere Project
At D. Williams Builders, we believe everyone deserves a space that works for them—one that supports independence, safety, and comfort without compromising on quality. With over 170 years of experience, we’re trusted by Tasmanians to deliver renovations that genuinely improve how people live day to day.
This bathroom project was built directly from modification specifications by an occupational therapist to meet the client’s specific accessibility needs. The goal was to create a bathroom that was not only compliant and functional, but also clean, modern, and easy to maintain—without feeling clinical.
What We Delivered
We carried out a full bathroom renovation with a focus on safe and seamless movement throughout the space:
Flush Transition Walk-In Shower
Designed for accessibility and ease of use, the walk-in shower features a level-entry transition with commercial-grade coved vinyl flooring for safety and durability.Lustrolite Shower Wall Lining
Sleek and low-maintenance, the high-gloss Lustrolite panels provide a contemporary finish while being easy to clean and long-lasting.Modern Wall-Hung Vanity
Installed at an accessible height, the vanity maximises space while maintaining a modern, uncluttered aesthetic.Grab Rails + Integrated Accessories
Towel rails that double as grab rails offer both practicality and discreet safety—helping the client feel supported without compromising the look and feel of the space.
Challenges & Craftsmanship
Accessible renovations demand precision—and this project was no exception. Working within the limitations of an older structure, we carefully removed an existing bath, wall linings and floor linings, re-graded the concrete slab to ensure a true flush transition into the shower without compromising drainage or waterproofing.
Every element, from stud layout to accessory positioning, was tailored to suit the client’s unique requirements. It’s this level of care and craftsmanship that ensures not just compliance—but real, lasting usability.
The Result
A clean, modern, highly functional bathroom that prioritises the client’s mobility and comfort. Designed in partnership with health professionals and delivered with expert craftsmanship, this renovation sets a new standard for accessible living.
Why It Matters
Accessible doesn’t have to mean institutional. This bathroom renovation proves that thoughtful design and quality construction can come together to create a space that’s stylish, safe, and fully tailored to the user. It’s a bathroom that supports confidence and independence—now and into the future.
